" What a pity, personally I'm all for the Buy Foreign campaign. Support poor people, we're fine."
You aren't supporting them, you are supporting their exploitation by your own companies at the expense of your own countrymen. You are supporting the same people who'd be getting rich either way, you're just promoting them paying someone 50 cents an hour...
I would also question the sanity of someone who believes Australia doesn't have any poor. I would imagine a great many people there would differ.

As for the government "listening", that ignores the fact that this has been ongoing for decades. Don't forget that not only does a nation have to import, they also have to export.
If the US government decided to torpedo our ability to export to China, a nation with a billion+ consumers, it would be just as irresponsible as alloing imports to harm domestic production. Many of the most sought-after items in the world are made in the US, and the Chinese would have no qualms about slapping huge trade penalties on their import.
It is a two-way street. Without being able to export US businesses would fail, and if you mess with other nations ability to export TO America, they screw with your ability to export to them.

Baker I agree with your points wholeheartedly!
It should be a two way street! We should be trading equally, unfortunately we are talking about large corporations who are expoliting the workers rather than helping the people that they should be, the workers.
Thanks Baker.
