I was just reading an article :

talking about a new Gospel. It will be interesting to see what comes out of it and why it was considered such a heretic article when it was abolished by the Church by Constantine.

This is the first I've heard of this. I think it's more than a coincidence that the 'rediscovery' of this "Gospel of Judas" comes at a time when Dan Brown and Tim LeHaye are defining religion for so many Americans. Is there a craze for it there where you are?
America got hooked on pop religion with books like "The Celestine Prophecy" and now they've moved on to the harder stuff. Books you couldn't even find in print 10 years ago (Gospel of Mary Magdalene, Gospel of Thomas) is now standard for the big chain book stores. People are obviously buying it, so why not a "Gospel of Judas." The Judeo-Christian faith has used such "rediscovering" as a technique of renewing itself for a long time -- Moses gets the law after the Hebrews "rediscover" their God on the mountain, later the law is "rediscovered" after the time of Solomon, and rediscovered again after the Babylonian captivity -- so why not a "rediscovered" gospel?
It worked for Joseph Smith.

Interesting article phoenixboi, like myrrander, this is the first that I have hear d of this also.
One thing that I did find in the article that I was disappointed with is that Roberty said "according to Christian tradition, Judas Iscariot betrayed Christ for 30 pieces of silver by helping the Romans find him before he was crucified".
I might add that this is not CHRISTIAN TRADITION, that is What the bible says. The Bible carries a greater foundation than that of Christian tradition.
I guess my concern is, if man will not believe the Gospels that have been given in the Word of God, would man believe another one if it were revealed at a later time?

No Myrr... there doesnt seem to be a craze for anything like that here.
why not a "rediscovered" gospel?
Im wondering why they kept it a secret for so long.

Well as the article suggests things are always chopped and changed by the popes and the like.. so if it were left in it's original condition then maybe it would have a greater ring of truth to them. Not saying that they dont but they have been tampered with alot.

My biggest concern would be the admonition that the apostle Paul gave to the church at Corinth "if any cometh preaching another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or
another gospel
, which we have not preached... beware!"

Preacherman, if we only went by the Gospel that Paul preached, we'd have to remove several books from the existing New Testament, including the Revelation of St. John.
PB >>> I'm not so sure this is something that has been "hidden for so long." What better way to give something new an aura of authenticity by painting it as something very old? People have done it over and over, especially with scripture.

Actually, myrr, these were readily available as parts of larger works more than 10 years ago. Individually, now that's another story.
