The Australian Prime minister has just announced that we will be spending $450 million dollars on long range cruise missiles to maintain our regional supremacy in the Asia Pacific region. Hello??
Link
Umm why is it that we are allowed to have long range cruise missiles yet other countries are condemned for having them or told not to even think of having them?
What makes our Prime Minister anymore sane than others? I consider our Prime Minister just as insane as the rest of them.

If you ever get the chance to be a part of the counting of the votes Trina jump on it
I have been involved with the AEC (Australian Electoral Commision) since I was old enough to take part... the last few elections I have been involved in the vote coutning process... aside from the fact that it is very easy money - it really does make you question your vote because so many morons make an extra effort to make sure their vote doesn't count, and it is easily up for interpretation...
One time, some imbecile went to the effort of sticking a picture of the M&M man (the red one) and marking a vote for him - stipulating that a red M&M could do a better job than any of the candidates
BAM!!!

Yet again our government takes us in a backward direction. We are just making ourselves a bigger target by having these missiles and to spend $450 million dollars on yet more weapons is obscene and is not the direction we should be heading in. I mean....we get more weapons and it starts a domino affect...we get more so they get more....so we had better get some more and they get more .....and so on....in the meantime....healthcare.....education and all the other more important things suffer for it.
I don't know how I'm voting exactly yet but I know little Johnny Liar will not be getting my vote...
What do people think of Peter Garret joining with Labor?

Thats right The Crusaders... but hey what I think is more laughable now is that Howard has said this election is now going to be based on "Trust"..how Funny!
Now if he is reelected then all I can say is Australians get what they deserve.. and it aint going to be pretty.

WHat a cop out is all I can say! HE should have joined the Greens and stood up for what he believed in... it just stinks of opportunism to me.

Phoenixboi,
WHat a cop out is all I can say! HE should have joined the Greens and stood up for what he believed in... it just stinks of opportunism to me.
Perhaps he's just being smart about it and putting himself in a position , he would not reach from the Greens, take his ideals and beliefs with him and make a difference from a higher vantage point. Get his foot in the door, infiltrate enemy ranks, undermine their policy and lead it in a brave new direction.
Howard has said this election is now going to be based on "Trust"..how Funny! Now if he is reelected then all I can say is Australians get what they deserve.. and it aint going to be pretty.
I will not be voting for Howard...no way...no how! I think he's shown us who he is and I don't think he is in the best interest of the future of Australia.....and the World.
Wouldn't it be great to have a noble.....intelligent.....compassionate......honest ...kind.....charismatic.....didnified......leader in our midst....who we could look up to and be proud to have him represent and guide us........Someone who has the best interests of everyone in their heart......who strives not for pride and power...but..peace and compassion......
............................Whoa....better snap out of that one....

Imagine what $450million could do in they way of reducing poverty, and aiding in the development of education and infrastructure in our surrounding area....
I mean it wouldnt resolve but a small percentage of the problems in the asia-pacific region, but it sure as hell would be beneficial in aiding that good ol group i like to call 'humanity'.
If any goverment did that, they would win my vote....
