The Purpose of Life is to Live it..not to spend all of it searching for the purpose. Live Live Live like every second was your last.

Tonight here in Australia we have the footy match called "state of origin" where queensland is up against nsw in a head to head battle of rugby league.

Before the game starts they all stand up to sing the Australian National Anthem.

Well.. this reminds me of when I was in the USA where everyone would stand and place their hand on their hearts and sing their anthm with pride.

Not here,

For those blockheads who dont know it, well Ill post the words for you..

Australians all let us rejoice
For we are young and free
We've golden soil and wealth for toil,
Our home is girt by sea:
Our land abounds in nature's gifts
Of beauty rich and rare,
In history's page let every stage
Advance Australia fair,
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia fair.

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross,
We'll toil with hearts and hands,
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands,
For those who've come across the seas
We've boundless plains to share,
With courage let us all combine
To advance Australia fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia fair.

Maybe we as Australians should be proud of our country and understand its heritage a little more.

I know the words to not only my own national anthem, but also the French! And no, I'm not a frog, but I DID watch "Casablanca" 5,367 times!

Oh, and I know PART of the Canadian anthem thanks to viewing more than a few Blue Jays and (now defunct) Expos (RIP) games.

I know all the words to the first verse and most of the second. But I too was just as shamed to see those footballers not singing - infact I said as much to Nick.
No pride.
They don't even teach it at primary school anymore. When I was there we had to sing it on parade every Friday. At highschool it was only played at Anzac and Rememberence Day services

Oh Canada
Our home and native land
True patriot love
In all thy sons command
With glowing hearts
We see thee rise
The true North strong and free
From far and wide
Oh Canada
We stand on guard for thee

God keep our land
Glorious and free
Oh Canada
We stand on guard for thee

Oh Canada
We stand on guard for thee

I don't even have a clue as to the French translation, partly because I don't speak French and partly because it isn't a direct translation.

lol...when I was in college and the olympics were on in 2000, my roommate and I were wondering the same thing--exactly how many athletes had taken the time from their busy training schedules to learn the national anthem. We decided that very few of them had...but we came up with an alternative to the US National Anthem:

I don't know the words,
I don't know the words
I dooooon't know the words,
I don't know the-e words.
I don't know the words!
I don't know the words.
I don't know the words.
I don't know the words.
I don't know the-e wo-ords
I don't kno-ow the-e wo-ords.
I don't know the-e WORDS!
I don't know the words.

See...at least this way the athletes could be singing, or at least lip syncing something, and the general public would think they were actually singing the NA. (For you American's out there...try it...it really works to sing "I don't know the words" to our anthem).
